C3 Settling In

For the past few years, I've been managing to make everything work within the confines of half of a 2 car garage. This has meant a couple of things... 1- that I've had to be very space efficient with my set-up and layout of equipment and workflow, and 2- I've had to force my better half to endure a constant layer of fine dust because no matter how well I clean or how well I do using my dust collection and vacuums, there's always going to be residual.

Sharing a space with non-woodworking equipment (i.e. SUV, gardening utensils, garbage cans, etc.) hasn't exactly been my preferred situation, either. Add to that the frigid January Kansas mornings where my truck would stay parked in the driveway to greet me in the morning. Not to say that I couldn't get it in the garage-- that was always part of the set-up options. But c'mon, who wants to really dis-assemble the in-progress projects and lay everything up just to put it all back again in a few days...?

So, when we found this property last summer, we knew it was just what we wanted and needed to take a shot at it. That shot paid off and here we are! Without going into all of the irrelevant details, the main subject is the oversized 2-car detached garage that became the new home for C3. While it will take a while to get it all the way to where I want it to be (client projects take precedence over shop ones), we're truly blessed to have found a place where we can begin this next chapter of our lives (did I mention it is on 1.25 acres and has woods in the backyard?).

I hope you enjoy following us along on this journey. I can't promise my musings will always be about the shop or shop projects, but even if I wax philosophical on life, you should always know that it will be based on this journey caused by wood.
